Design a new cloud service offering for the G-Cloud marketplace.

Overview

An internal planning document that defines the service's value proposition, target market, lot assignment, features, benefits, and pricing approach before generating the formal SDD. This document is not submitted to CCS — it guides the SDD generation.

Usage

/gcloud-kit:service-design My Cloud Platform

Arguments: Service name.

Prerequisites

  • Supplier profile must exist (services/supplier/supplier-profile.md)

Output

services/{number}-{name}/service-design.md

Creates a numbered service directory (e.g. services/001-my-cloud-platform/).

Template used: .gcloud/templates/service-design-template.md

What it does

  1. Verifies supplier profile exists
  2. Researches the service using marketplace data or WebFetch (existing services, competitors)
  3. Creates a numbered service directory
  4. Gathers service information — lot type, features, benefits, pricing model, target buyers
  5. Generates the service design document

Information collected

  • Service name and description
  • Lot assignment (1, 2, or 3)
  • Features and benefits (within character limits)
  • Target buyer segments
  • Technical architecture overview
  • Support model
  • Pricing approach
  • Competitive positioning
