/gcloud-kit:social-value
Create or update the supplier's G-Cloud 15 social value commitments.
Overview
Social value is new in G-Cloud 15 and counts for 10% on every lot. It is marked pass/fail: a pass scores the full 10%, and a fail scores 0 and disqualifies the tender. The questions sit in the supplier declaration, so they are answered once per supplier, and the measures you commit to appear on every one of your service listings. Buyers can filter search results by social value, and can add a social value requirement to a call-off contract that you must then meet.
This command prepares all four parts of the declaration's social value section:
| Part | What it asks | Fails the bid if |
|---|---|---|
| Section A: Understanding Social Value | Five "do you understand" questions | Any answer is "No" |
| Section B: Commitment for Future: Delivery | The measures you commit to, from 4 missions and 7 policy outcomes (1–4 and 6–8) | No measure is selected |
| Section C: Organisational Readiness | A named Social Value Contact | You state you will not have one |
| Operational Readiness | A commitment to report, and five organisational processes | Any answer is "No" |
Selecting more measures does not score more. Each one is a commitment a buyer can hold you to, so the command records evidence and a delivery plan for every measure you choose.
Usage
/gcloud-kit:social-value
/gcloud-kit:social-value https://www.example.com/social-value
Arguments: Optional. A URL for your social value, ESG or sustainability page, which the command reads for evidence.
Prerequisites
- Supplier profile (
services/supplier/supplier-profile.md)
Output
services/supplier/social-value.md
Template used: .gcloud/templates/social-value-template.md if you've customised it with /gcloud-kit:customize, otherwise the plugin's templates/social-value-template.md
What it does
- Loads the supplier profile and any existing social value document. On a re-run it shows what is recorded and updates only what you change
- Reads the social value model reference (every mission, policy outcome and measure, worded exactly as the declaration's checkboxes) and the declaration's social value questions
- Explains the pass/fail rules before asking anything
- Asks the five Section A questions. It never answers them for you
- Looks for evidence of measures you already deliver (Living Wage, pay gap reporting, apprenticeships, SME subcontracting, ISO 14001 or a Carbon Reduction Plan, Disability Confident, wellbeing programmes) and proposes only measures it found evidence for
- Asks which missions you commit to, then shows each mission's measures numbered by outcome so you can pick them
- For each measure, records the evidence today, what you will deliver on a call-off, how it is measured, and who owns it
- Asks the Section C and Operational Readiness questions, and the Social Value Contact's name, job title and email
- Writes the document with your commitments grouped Mission → Policy Outcome → measure, as listings show them. Anything unconfirmed is
[PENDING] - Summarises the answers, measures per mission, delivery plans still incomplete, and anything that would fail the tender as written
